What is keepersecurity.com?

It’s a password manager application, licensed SaaS, and digital vault that was created by Keeper Security. In addition to website password storage, it can store financial information as well as other sensitive documents via two-factor authentication, 256-bit AES encryption, and zero-knowledge architecture.

How does keepersecurity.com work?

Keepersecurity.com offers a secure file storage platform and password management software for businesses. In June 2019, the company also launched Breach Watch for businesses, which is a service designed for searching the Dark Web for any login credentials that may have been exposed through a public breach, thereby preventing credential stuffing and/or any account takeover attacks. They also offer a less expensive personal version, as well, where users’ files and passwords can be backed up to the cloud, as well as synced up and encrypted via a 256-bit AES key that is a derivative of a user’s own master password.

What are the features they offer?

The many Keepersecurity.com features include:

Active directory integration,

Auditing,

Delegated administration,

File sharing,

Keeper Chat,

Reporting,

User provisioning,

All records in a user’s private vault are encrypted and then stored using a unique encryption key. In addition, Keepersecurity.com addresses the password fatigue problem via auto-filling both logins and password fields using the user’s stored information. Their Keeper Chat feature offers a secure communications platform for providing not only encrypted messaging but also messages that self-destruct, as well as two-factor authentication and message retraction.

Pros & Cons

Here are just a few Keepersecurity.com Pros and Cons:

Pros:

1. Trusted by thousands of businesses and millions of individuals.

2. Offers professional services and world-class support.

Cons:

1. In 2017, when Keeper was bundled with Microsoft Windows 10, a Google security researcher found that the software was recommending the installation of a browser add-on that contained a vulnerability. That vulnerability allowed virtually any website to steal account passwords.

2. An almost identical vulnerability had already been discovered and disclosed to Keeper previously in 2016. Within 24 hours of the more recent vulnerability report, the company offered a patch. Just a few days later, Keeper Security inc. sued Ars Technica. They claimed that their article was both misleading and defamatory. On March 30, 2018, the suit was dismissed when Ars Technica clarified their article. Then, Keeper Security Inc. came out with a program of public vulnerability disclosure with Bugcrowd.
